In The Wings: "Zylight!"

The good folks at Zylight have been kind enough to loan me one of their beautiful (and portable) LED lights to test out, and I plan on running this unit through the paces during the next few days. A series of shoots this coming week should provide plenty of opportunities for the light to show just how useful and durable it is, and I've already had the chance to fire up the LEDs during a recent video shoot.

My initial reaction?

This is a VERY interesting (and handy) piece of equipment.

Nice! I look forward to hearing your take on these. I've had my eye on them for a while.

Zeke: I should have a good collection of comments and observations by the end of the week. As I wrote in the initial posting, this is an interesting piece of equipment -- one that's really quite different from the various other LED panel-lights/camera-lights that are out there. The ability to adjust color temperature from 2500 - 9000 K is pretty dang' cool. An even more interesting feature is the Hue adjustment option (this is referred to as the "Gel" mode by Zylight), an option which allows super-saturated party gel colors to be dialed in: everything from eye-bleeding reds and yellows to mega-mellow blue tones.

Again, I'll have more to say as the week progresses.
